Music is Remedy was HEAVY!!!!!
A "hello-hi" to the bloggers, writers, videographers and just plain people at '
Music Is Remedy':
And Ed Sheeran - "first time with a band" is a blasted LIE!!! You guys have been together longer for you to be so 'well-jelled'. The acapella and the jam session in THE CENTRE OF THE CROWD with no mic - I am truly inspired. That moment was emotional.
But yeah. Enough lips to bums. It was at the event that I learned this lesson.
Met for the first time at the Music Is Remedy event - talking about the difficulties of presenting towards an audience - making jokes and such:
Shakka: ... similar to when artists do it in-between songs ......... and their jokes don't go down well. Not a good look.
Reuben: F**k it. It happens. Rejection always happens. You just have to deal with it.
Personally, I think musicians (especially up and coming musicians) can learn from Presenters (vice versa) or Comedians. It's true, Rejection always happens in some form or another. But you really can't
- dwell on it, and
- let it stop you from doin' your business. YOU JUST KAN'T!!!
So when Ed Sheeran asked if there were any MC's in the stage, I made sure I mentally slapped myself after thinkin: "OOH. I could douse. It's his show. Not mine. It's not an open mic session. I haven't got anything new. The band might throw their instruments at me like The Who."
Cheesy but true: belief in yourself goes further than others who believe in you. Their "
you'll do fine's" and "
GO AN BUSS UP DI STYAGE" will only go so far. Just have to scream to drown out your conscience for a bit as you leap.
Coz you aint gonna die. Just bight buss your lip or somethin' innit .....
MusicIsRemedy - I wanna see videos.
